Easter, Texas, and Family

Carla spent Easter with her three sisters (Mary, Hazel, and Ann), and the sisters and many of the cousins got to enjoy a sunrise service with hymns and a reading of the Book of Ruth, then class and service at the Chapel. The night before we all celebrated Lori and Kyle’s little baby-on-the-way at a baby shower. Their kids headed home on Sunday afternoon, but Carla and Ann stayed to help with the parents’ place, and get ready for the trip down to Houston. A quick visit to Mary’s nurse practitioner helped Carla with a sinus infection, and we all praised God she didn’t have that extra pressure in her sinuses during her flight!

Carla and Ann are down at MD Anderson in Houston today. Relatives of Mary and Tom graciously invited the sisters to stay with them, and they had a good visit yesterday. It turns out that Ann and Dave went to the same school as Tom’s cousin: University of Missouri-Rolla (now Missouri University of Science and Technology!).

Carla and Ann set out bright and early to go to their appointment today. Here is Ann’s update, from 11:53AM this morning:

They are really pressuring Carla to do the chemo.   The doctor that was just in said it is the only thing that will help her at this point.   There is another doctor coming in that has been working with sarcoma patients for a long time.

We are praising God for Carla and Ann’s visit with the family, and their safe trip down to Houston. Please pray for Carla as she meets with doctors today and hears their perspectives on her options.

“For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.” (Ephesians 3:14-17a)
